G'Day Fellow Golfers,
Welcome to my blog on one of golfs major mysteries, putting! You would think that after negotiating 100's of yards of fairway that getting to the golf green and putting the golf ball in the hole would be easy. Yeah sure!
My blog is going to help you find your way to reduce strokes on the putting green. I have been playing golf for 40 years and have been a PGA Professional for over 30 years. My father now deceased was also a PGA Professional for 40 years. So I have a fair amount of experience to share with you. This advice is free however, I must admit that I am the custom putter fitter for Quantum Putters and most of my knowledge comes from being involved in the industry as well as from playing and teaching golf.
My blog will be posted every 2 weeks so I hope that you can join me on this journey of sharing golf wisdom. Visit my website if you are interested in my point of view simpligolfsystem.com
To perform well on the putting green you will need a stroke that is distance controlled. Most putter these days have very little head weight, this is okay if you play every day and are able to get a feel for the length of backswing. Most golfers are unable to be out there every day so here is a simple drill to perform at home or on the practice green.
Length of Backswing Drill
Place two tees in the putting green two yards apart. You practice this drill in between the tees, place the ball so that the back tee will restrict your backswing. You have to work out how much backswing you will require to send the ball to touch the forward tee. Most golfers have too much backswing and little follow through. This drill can also be completed at home on the carpet using small cans instead of the tees. It is a great way of learning distance control.
That is all for this blog, get started on saving vital strokes on the green by completing this drill 3 times in the next two weeks. My next blog will be on the 13th September.
Until then, good golfing from
