Short Game Setup - Ball Position

This is the position of the ball in relation to the body although generally golfers associate it to their feet and/or stance.

Centre - middle of the stance with the upper body (chest) relatively centered to the ball.

Forward - towards the forward foot with the body generally more behind the ball (away from target)

Back - towards the rear foot with the body generally more in front of the ball (towards the target)

Golf Ball Position Advice

Tip: the further back the ball the lower the ball flight.

Tip: remember the distance a golfer stands from the ball has another important influence on shot outcome.  A general rule of thumb to follow might be, “the closer you stand to the ball the more control you have”.

This last factor also has an influence on the angle and path of the club so it must be fully appreciated if you are to maximize your short game development.
