Short Game Shot Strategy - The Green

You must be able to work out how the ball will react on landing and how this will influence shot selection as well as club selection.

If the green is:

Flat - relatively straightforward, you have a choice of options.

Uphill - the shot will play longer, as not only will the ball stop quicker on landing and rolling less, but uphill elevations mean the ball travels less distance through the air.

Shot Strategy around the greens

Tips:

Chip - select less lofted club, hit firmer = less carry, more roll

Pitch - select less lofted club for lower flight or hit firmer and land the ball closer to the hole.
