Golf in Blackpool
Playing golf in the Blackpool area leaves you spoilt for choice when choosing courses. For the upcoming or casual player it is hard to beat Staining Lodge, just on the edge of Blackpool and about 3 minutes from the M55. The course features wide open fairways and excellent greens. Hazards will take a few years yet to grow into trees. There is enough water to get into trouble but not if you stick to the fairways. Much of the rough is conservation areas so a free drop keeps the score acceptable. It is a friendly atmosphere & the golf house itself is exceptionally nice. Log burning stove, contemporary furniture, excellent home made food and licensed bar allow you to really appreciate the stunning countryside views. It is pay & play only so make sure you book well in advance as weekend mornings fill up fast. There is even a practice putting green and all grass driving range. The course is currently 9 holes with another 9 scheduled to open in summer 2009.

Sounds nice - I bet you can't wait until summer for the new 9 holes to open. Played Flyde (is that how you spell it?) a few years ago on a stag do - boy was it wet and windy that day - consequently I don't recall too much about the course itself!
