Pyrford Golf Club
Established in 1993 Pyrford Golf Club is a modern proprietary operated member club which boasts a course of outstanding natural beauty combined with a friendly and relaxed clubhouse atmosphere. The club has a thriving membership although visitors are welcome, either for a casual game or through society and corporate events. The course, designed by former Ryder Cup players Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, winds its way around ancient woodland and the 2 loops of nine holes are renowned for their lakes which come into play on many holes. Extensive drainage ensures the course is playable even during the wettest winter months and with gentle undulations the course is suitable for golfers of all ages. Situated in the tranquil heart of the Surrey countryside, Pyrford is still in easy access of the A3, M25 and M3. The location provides an accessible escape from the hustle and bustle of city life as we are only 35 minutes drive from central London. It is the perfect place for players of all abilities to enjoy their golf.

We held our annual pre-tour stableford tournament at Pyford in August this year, and among the 17 competitors there were many first time visitors to the club, myself included.
The organisation before the day was extremely helpful, and the pre-booked food and beverages were provided on time as specified.
The course itself was in excellent condition, with a number of challenging 'thinkers' holes, where whack-and-hope tactics won't help you. Water comes into play on a number of holes, which certainly assists scoring of the straighter hitters.
A good day, and one we will be sure to repeat.
The only negative was that they had run out of stroke savers the day before due to a large society booking, which frustrated some of the lower handicappers.
Played Pyrford on a recent Golf Society day and thoroughly enjoyed the course. Although relatively short, the course bring water into play on the majority of the holes. The layout is very picturesque and ideal for honing your course management skills as you need to adapt your strategy on a hole by hole basis if you are to score well. As with most keen amateurs, the urge to reach for the big stick from the tee is always a strong one but one that I would only advise on rare occasions around Pyrford - thinking your way around the course will result in a good score and a much greater sense of satisfaction than can be gained from most "grip it and rip it" courses. The course when played in early August was in great condition. Facitiies are very good, especially a driving range that allows you to hit from the grass - a rare luxury! Overall I would highly recommend the course and look forward to pitting my wits against it again in the not too distant future.
Well what a pleasant surprise! We played here last weekend at our golf society golf day and had a great day out. The staff were amongst the friendliest I've seen at any golf club; the food was good and the round was very enjoyable indeed. The practice facilities are good, including a practice bunker just by the first tee (5 minutes practice in here prior to teeing off really helped me get a feel for my short game touch before going out). The course itself isn't that long but is well presented and in good condition. It is more than enough of a challenge for your average club golfer, and there is plenty of water to test an errant tee shot. We lost plenty of balls between us but we'll definitely be back.
